Perhaps you rarely think about our Board of Directors, but this group is responsible for guiding JFS today and into the future—and it’s why we are highlighting their work and introducing our new members this month.
Community Resource Fair
This in-person event features a variety of community partners and is designed to provide helpful information about JFS programs and services and beyond—all to benefit individuals and families within our community.
July 2024 Volunteer of the Month
We are excited to introduce our July Volunteer of the Month, Michele M., who volunteers as a Friendly Visitor, helping to provide friendship and support to older adults in our community and with our Refugee Resettlement program providing cultural orientation to newly settled families.
How dancing can hold the meaning of "Tzedakah"
Ron Sherman, a new JFS board member, enjoys International Folk Dancing and teaching Israeli dance at Wash Park on Thursday evenings from 7 to 10 p.m. There is no cost or registration required to participate, and anyone is welcome to join.

Our recent JFS Job Fair was the place to be for more than 150 Denver-area job seekers! With 21 employer partners in attendance, those looking for first jobs, part-time employment to supplement their income, or opportunities to climb the career ladder explored possibilities with the hopes of securing meaningful employment.

Internships are an opportunity to gain real-life work experience and determine your true passion. Our JFS vocational team was fortunate to have University of Denver student Sela Kline join the group for several months while she completed her senior year at school.
Our greens, your table: Join our JFS Altius Farms CSA
At JFS Altius Farms, we grow more than 35,000 pounds of fresh produce each year in our 7,300 sq. ft. rooftop greenhouse, which houses 355 Tower Gardens™. Our rooftop farm provides healthy, locally and sustainably grown non-GMO and chemical pesticide-free produce.

Passover 2024: Finding hope and joy, together
Bringing Passover celebrations to isolated older adults in retirement communities or their homes is such an impactful way to show we care for our Jewish friends. To all our supporters and dedicated volunteers, we thank you for making Passover special to those who rely on us. We truly appreciate your efforts to make these celebrations meaningful.

May, JFS Boulder held two volunteer gatherings for existing and potential volunteers to join our team, Guests learned about our JFS programs and volunteer opportunities while getting to know other volunteers and staff. We’re already looking forward to planning future informational sessions!
Repair the World Colorado Service Corps members join forces with JFS Boulder
Repair the World strives to pursue a just world through meaningful service and learning, and together with JFS Boulder, community members are making a significant impact in the best possible ways. After receiving feedback that Boulder youth had difficulties finding community service opportunities, Repair the World Service Corps members and CU students Sophia Englezos and Eleanor Steele and JFS Boulder Community Engagement Liaison Tina Kantor decided to address the challenges and expand our capacity to make an impact throughout Boulder.
Marshall Fire support opportunities available
JFS Boulder continues to respond to the community needs following the Marshall Fire. Registration for our Boulder County Crisis Counseling program will end in June, and we are now offering a 6-week teen support program.

Since 2013, Rob has supported the organization with his dedication to the Friendly Visitor program, as a holiday celebrant, and deliverer of holiday baskets, sharing more than 300 hours of his time volunteering.
We are accepting clients for our homemaker support services
Could you or someone you know benefit from a bit of help with housekeeping assistance to remain independent in your home? The JFS Aging Care & Connections department employs homemakers who offer in-home assistance to older adults in the Denver metro area.
Celebrate Pride with us
Each year, June is dedicated to celebrating LGBTQ Pride Month. The month-long celebration is an opportunity to unite, honor diversity, spark awareness of the community’s current issues, and bring change to our everyday lives. Pride Month began in 1969 after the Stonewall riots, a series of gay liberation protests, and it has since spread worldwide.
A seat at the table: enjoying inclusion at our Passover seder
In partnership with Repair the World and Ohr HaOlam, JFS Jewish Disabilities Advocates (JDA) was thrilled to bring to the community the first Disability Justice Passover Seder on April 26 at Temple Emanuel.
Build an active, healthy lifestyle through adaptive cycling!
We are excited to pilot an adaptive bike program, and Douglas, Arapahoe, and Elbert County residents in the intellectual/developmental disability (IDD) community over the age of 18 are encouraged to participate!

Nearly 1,100 members of the Denver philanthropic community gathered to learn more about JFS, enjoy lunch, celebrate the Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck Community Leadership Award presentation to our incredible partners at Temple Emanuel, and listen to a moderated conversation between Corby Kummer and Martha Stewart.
