Marshall Fire support opportunities available

JFS Boulder offers several opportunities to receive mental health support.

Boulder County Crisis Counseling

JFS and Community Foundation Boulder County continue our partnership to offer 15 free counseling services to Boulder County residents who have been impacted by the Marshall Fire. Please note that registration for the program closes on June 30.

What this means? You will have until June 30 to register for the program. You will then have until December 31 or until funds run out to complete your sessions. If you have specific questions or are having trouble finding a therapist who has capacity, please reach out to bccc@jewishfamilyservice.org, and Nicole will be happy to assist you.

Teen support group

JFS is partnering with In-Bloom Psychotherapy to provide teens with a continued connection—a support and skills-based group for teens impacted by the Marshall Fire.

If you are a teen between the ages of 14 and 17, and you’re struggling to find connection with others whom the fire has not impacted in the same way you have, or maybe you’re struggling with life still feeling like a challenge or perhaps feeling even more complicated, you are encouraged to join our new six-week support group.

The group will focus on finding connections after the fire and provide skills and education around topics like how to:

  • Manage and tolerate your stress.

  • Understand trauma activation.

  • Cope with the loss.

Our nature-based group will meet weekly starting in August. For more information, please contact Melissa Mascarenas at 720.459. 3883 or mmascarenas@jewishfamilyservice.org. Download our support group flyer

On a fun note, JFS Boulder participated in an ice cream social event held by Marshall ROC (Restoring Our Community) to ring in the summer.
