In-home Services for Older Adults
Homemaker Services
JFS provides homemakers who visit our care recipients every other week. Our professional staff of homemakers is responsible, considerate, and carefully screened. They provide housekeeping for older adults in a responsible and considerate manner.
Housekeeping services include:
Light housecleaning
Laundry
Meal preparation
Grocery shopping
A qualified JFS care manager performs an initial in-home evaluation to establish individuals’ needs and follows up at least every six months to ensure those needs are met.
Kosher Meals on Wheels
JFS delivers hot or frozen meals to homebound adults five days per week through our Kosher Meals on Wheels program. To receive meals, an individual must be at least 60 years old and assessed as homebound. He or she must be Jewish or have a spiritual need to receive kosher meals. The program not only provides nutritious meals but also reduces the stress of family members, who know their loved ones are getting a high-quality kosher meal every weekday.
Meals are delivered Monday through Friday. If JFS will be closed, a frozen meal is pre-delivered. Each meal consists of at least one-third of the recommended daily nutrients for older adults.
Food Box Delivery
Homebound older adults can receive healthy, well-balanced meals delivered right to their doorsteps through our food delivery program.
Friendly Visitor Volunteers
Many older adults stay connected with their community through the loving attention of JFS Friendly Visitor volunteers. These volunteers donate their time to visit with isolated older adults and enjoy a variety of activities together. Older adults are carefully matched with volunteers who share their interests and values.
