We are thankful for you!

Our annual Thanksgiving meal distribution may be over, but thanks to our partners, volunteers, donors, board, and staff who showed their gratitude through generosity, the spirit of the holiday will live on.

We shared the warmth of Thanksgiving with our neighbors who could benefit from a little extra support this holiday, and that is especially important as we continue to see the need for food assistance rise, and a memorable meal would be an impossible reality.

Looking at the event by the numbers is impressive!

  • 559 food boxes with all the essentials for a traditional Thanksgiving feast, including cranberry sauce, green beans, mixed vegetables, muffin mix corn, sweet peas, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, chicken noodle soup, applesauce, cream of mushroom, and stuffing will be the center of the table and help families and friends gather, connect, and feel a sense of belonging.

  • 4,500 pounds of turkey were distributed to families to enjoy. (Shout out to Councilwoman Romero Campbell, who donated 50 turkeys, and her team for delivering them to JFS!)

  • 934 pounds of dairy products, including butter and eggs, will be incorporated into holiday dishes.

  • 200 $15 gift cards were given to families with one to two household members instead of a turkey.

  • 100 homebound older adults received delivered meals.

  • 45 volunteers were on hand to help with distribution.

Thanks to Target for generously allowing us to borrow several shopping carts for distribution, which made a big difference to help things run smoothly!

Throughout the day, several clients shared how grateful they were to have a full Thanksgiving meal for their family after a challenging year, and volunteers mentioned how uplifting it was to see the community come together.

Together, we are making a difference in the communities we serve this Thanksgiving and beyond!
