Rapid re-housing creates stability

Juan joined our Rapid Re-housing program in December 2021, and the barriers he faced were evident from his initial intake meeting with his housing navigator. Juan, who was on a fixed income, was caring for his severely disabled sister, dealing with his own health concerns, and facing issues with his approved voucher. In March 2022, Juan was approved for an apartment. However, due to problems with affordability after the voucher amount was adjusted, the apartment was no longer an option, and Juan’s housing search was forced to start from the beginning. Juan and his housing navigator worked together to get the voucher corrected and collaborated on finding an apartment suitable for his needs. On June 13, 2022, Juan signed his lease, and with the help of JFS, he moved into his new apartment. “It was great that we were able to assist Juan overcome some of the barriers that made it difficult to find housing suitable for client needs,” said JFS Housing Navigator Richard. “Now, we can focus on eliminating more of Juan’s housing barriers.”

The JFS Rapid Re-housing program reduces homelessness in the Denver metro area by quickly moving individuals and families into permanent housing by providing housing identification, financial and supportive service, and ongoing personal support and success planning. Our housing navigators work with clients to help them choose homes to meet their lifestyle and ensure that they don’t become homeless again. The program is funded by various grants that ensure rent support to participants and rent payment to participating landlords. If you are a landlord or property owner looking for pre-screened tenants to fill vacancies quickly, we can help! Learn more today.
