With all the stressors in the world today it is important to take care of your mental health and to check on friends and family. As the COVID-19 crisis continues, the political divide, and with the winter months ahead of us, feelings of anxiety and depression are common and should not be ignored. According to a recent report from Mental Health America, mental health needs for people of all ages are on the rise.

Below are tips to boost your mental health:

  • Stay connected – reach out to friends and family, talk to them about what is on your mind and how you are feeling.

  • Get outside – take a walk. Research shows that being in nature can increase energy levels, reduce depression, and boost well-being.

  • Exercise – if you are not comfortable going to the gym, find an online class.

  • Experiment try a new recipe, write a poem, or paint or draw a picture. Creative expression and overall well-being are linked.

  • Limit screen time – studies show increased mental health concerns directly correlate with social media usage.
