Mental Health Matters
With all the stressors in the world today it is important to take care of your mental health and to check on friends and family. As the COVID-19 crisis continues, the political divide, and with the winter months ahead of us, feelings of anxiety and depression are common and should not be ignored. According to a recent report from Mental Health America, mental health needs for people of all ages are on the rise.
Below are tips to boost your mental health:
Stay connected – reach out to friends and family, talk to them about what is on your mind and how you are feeling.
Get outside – take a walk. Research shows that being in nature can increase energy levels, reduce depression, and boost well-being.
Exercise – if you are not comfortable going to the gym, find an online class.
Experiment – try a new recipe, write a poem, or paint or draw a picture. Creative expression and overall well-being are linked.
Limit screen time – studies show increased mental health concerns directly correlate with social media usage.
