KidSuccess: Preparing for Back to School

KidSuccess.jpg

KidSuccess is an innovative program in which trained JFS therapists work in Denver-area schools, providing children and adolescents access to quality counseling services.

We know that sending kids back to school is difficult a decision for many parents, teachers, and administrators. As many schools start the year virtually, our KidSuccess therapists will be providing teletherapy and when possible in-person services. They had a lot to consider when creating a plan for safely returning to schools and meeting with students in person. The main priority is keeping staff, students, families, and teachers safe and healthy. Protocols have been put in place, and teletherapy services are an option if students or families are not comfortable meeting in person.

Protocols include:

  • All therapists will be tested bi-weekly for COVID-19.

  • Masks and disinfectant will be provided to the therapists.

  • If an office is too small to social distance, sessions will be held in an alternate space or outside.

  • Removal of all toys and supplies that cannot be sanitized.

In the event that schools need to close due to the spread of COVID-19, our therapists are prepared to transition back to teletherapy services. They have talked to families about their technology capabilities, what devices they may need, and if they have an internet provider. If we find that a family is in need of technology, JFS will provide resources.

Therapists provide services in 12 Denver Public Schools and one private school.
