Keeping Karen in Her Home

Karen Friedman

Karen Friedman, 74, contacted JFS Boulder last year when she needed help with mortgage payments. She was struggling with financial issues while seeking employment. She had received assistance from JFS in the past and hoped she could count on the organization again.

Stuart Feinhor, JFS Boulder programs coordinator and care manager, worked with Karen to send three payments to her mortgage company through our Emergency Housing Assistance Program. “It was not an easy process, as my lender was difficult to reach and get the correct information from,” said Karen. “The company took months to process the first two payments and was confused about which account to credit the money, but Stuart was patient and persistent.”

Stuart is still working with the mortgage company to sort out complications from the third payment, so we can fulfil her final request for assistance.  but hopes to resolve it soon. He says, “Karen has been nothing but patient and as accommodating as she could possibly be between her work schedule and health issues.”

Fortunately, since Karen first came to JFS for help, she has started working as a concierge at Balfour Senior Assisted Living in Louisville, which she loves!

Karen shares, “I could never thank Stuart and JFS enough for their incredible generosity and compassion. Without their assistance, I would be so behind on mortgage payments and would hate to think what would happen to me.”
