Increase your mental health and emotional well-being
In January, JFS launched a new Mental Health Jewish Spiritual Support Group to provide a safe and supportive place for those experiencing mental health challenges and their loved ones. With a focus on emotional support and shared experiences, no one struggling needs to face difficult times alone.
We know connections are made over conversations and shared experiences, and we gain insights from hearing about what others are going through. Sessions focus on Jewish spirituality and teachings as co-facilitators Rabbi Sandra Cohen and Gitit Kaufman, LPC, guide the group in finding meaning in their shared Jewish experiences and identifying pathways for moving forward.
The Support Group meets monthly via Zoom from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.; advanced registration is required. During the sessions, participants build on their progress, get to know one another, learn from each other, and lean on one another as they develop a support network. To foster a deeper sense of community, the group aims to remain relatively small (approximately 5 to 12 members) and is currently seeking new participants. Upcoming meetings are:
February 8
March 7
April 4
May 2
June 6
A grant from Justice Necessary supports the JFS Mental Health Jewish Spiritual Support Group, and participation is free and open to anyone in the Jewish community with mental health challenges. If you or someone you know is experiencing difficulties with mental health, searching for meaning, or looking for support within a compassionate community, please register for our Mental Health Jewish Spiritual Support Group online.
Additionally, for those of the Jewish faith who are experiencing chronic health conditions, pain, and disability, our Chronic Health Conditions Support Group is a safe forum where you can find emotional support, share personal experiences and feelings, learn coping strategies, and experience a sense of connection and community.
