Our support can often help those in crisis remain in their homes while developing longer-term plans for self-sufficiency.

Emergency Housing Assistance Program

The JFS Emergency Housing Assistance Program (EHAP) provides limited financial aid and case management to Denver-area individuals and families who are facing homelessness.

We focus our efforts on preventing homelessness by providing individuals and families living on very low incomes with rent assistance, case management, and access to other supportive services. This support can often help those in crisis remain in their homes while developing longer-term plans for self-sufficiency.

Everyone who receives financial assistance meets with a case manager to review their budget, resources, and future plans. Beyond meeting clients’ immediate need for emergency financial assistance, EHAP serves as a single-point-of-entry for other services at JFS, such as the Weinberg Food Pantry, counseling, holiday programs, school supplies, and more.

Housing Assistance

Due to the limited availability of funding resources, JFS is not currently offering rental assistance.

The Temporary Rental and Utility Assistance (TRUA) Program offered through the City of Denver provides eligible households with rental, utility, and relocation assistance. Please note that financial assistance is not guaranteed and is subject to the applicant’s continued program eligibility and availability of program funds. Learn more about eligibility and apply.

Please note:

  • Submitting a request for assistance does not guarantee that JFS will be able to provide support. If you are eligible and if JFS has funds available, you will be contacted by an intake specialist.

  • Due to our current funding restrictions, JFS will not be able to reply to or provide support to everyone who applies.

  • If you are eligible for assistance and JFS has resources available, please be aware that funds may not be immediately available and that new requests for assistance frequently take several business days to process.

  • Everyone is encouraged to contact as many agencies as possible to increase the chance of receiving assistance in time. Contact the United Way’s Helpline by dialing 2-1-1 for an up-to-date list of multiple agencies that are accepting calls about rental assistance.

JFS does not discriminate in admission or access to, or treatment in, its programs or activities, on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability or any other protected classification under federal, state, or local law.
