Meet our Denver Volunteer of the Year

Fran Cohen

Congratulations to Fran Cohen, the JFS Denver 2024 Volunteer of the Year Award recipient!

Since 2011, Fran has supported the organization with her dedication to the following programs: ACC Friendly Caller and Friendly Visitor, Weinberg Food Pantry, Bright Holidays/Holiday Donation Reception, Care Manager Assistants, and Refugee Mental Health, sharing more than 1,350 hours of her time volunteering.

At the recent Volunteer Appreciation event, the team shared the following about Fran:

Fran is one of the loveliest people you will ever meet, and she fully embraces the spirit of volunteerism. Fran shared her patience, compassionate listening skills, joy, and empathy with JFS as a Friendly Visitor volunteer for many years. In the last 13 years, she has selflessly offered her skills and time to help in many other programs, always willing to help where needed. Fran has a heart of gold, and she has most recently been volunteering in the Weinberg Food Pantry, offering her enthusiasm and special care to every client.

Mollie Steward, ACC Care Manager worked with Fran and shared, “Fran was a wonderful friendly visitor! She took her matched friend who was a homebound client to many of her favorite lunch spots around Denver, at some of the places this client had been a regular there for years! Even as this client declined, Fran was a wonderful friend and made a remarkable difference in the life of this client and her family. Fran’s compassion and patience is a gift to our community.”

Thank you, Fran, for being a beacon of hope and change.

We’re positive you’ll agree that Fran truly personifies the spirit of JFS, and we are so fortunate to have her as part of our JFS family. Congratulations, Fran! You truly deserve the JFS Denver 2024 Volunteer of the Year Award!

Meet our Boulder Volunteer of the Year!

Congratulations to the JFS Boulder 2024 Volunteer of the Year Award recipient Rob Fineman!

Since 2013, Rob has supported JFS Boulder with his dedication to the Friendly Visitors program, holiday basket delivery, and a holiday celebrant, sharing more than 300 hours of his time volunteering.

Rob has been with JFS Boulder longer than any of our current staff! He’s always been ready and willing to help as much as possible. Not only is Rob a devoted and deeply caring friendly visitor, but he was also incredibly helpful during the first weeks of the Marshall Fire when we needed a lot of hands on deck. Additionally, Rob has been a great help at many of our holiday observances at the various older adult residences, where he never hesitates to jump right in to do what’s needed to make our clients happy and comfortable. Rob is a patient listener, an engaged conversationalist, and a reliable member of the JFS community.

Rob has the right stuff, and we are so grateful for his years of service to JFS Boulder. Congratulations, Rob! You truly deserve the JFS Boulder 2024 Volunteer of the Year Award!
