Building strong social connections

Two older adults embracing.

Friends and social connections are not just nice to have in our lives; they are crucial for mental and physical health. We have two opportunities for you to get involved and prevent social isolation.

OPPORTUNITY 1

Become a friendly visitor! We are expanding our Friendly Visitor program to improve the lives of older adults in our community. Friendly visitor volunteers are matched with a local older adult for weekly visits or phone calls. If you are looking for a way to make a significant impact and make a meaningful connection, please contact Tina

Commitment: Weekly or every other week for 1-2 hours per visit. Minimum six-month commitment preferred.

(Note: Our volunteers do not provide household help or errands; they provide social time at home or out in the community.)

OPPORTUNITY 2

Become a transportation volunteer and help older adults who do not drive maintain social connections by taking them to and from Boulder older adult living communities to events at the Boulder JCC—and have fun by attending them together! There are weekday and evening opportunities, and volunteers can choose times and locations that work for their schedules. Currently, we are partnering with two older adult communities in Boulder to pilot this program, and we may expand if there is interest. To learn more, please contact please contact Tina.
