So many ways to do good
At one of our volunteer events, JFS President and CEO Linda Foster shared a favorite quote from Erma Bombeck, who was a bestselling author and newspaper columnist. Ms. Bombeck said, “Volunteers are the only human beings on the face of the earth who reflect this nation’s compassion, unselfish caring, patience, and just plain loving one another.” Every day, our JFS volunteers have a choice to make a difference, and they channel their unique gifts to make the greatest impact for the greater good throughout JFS and the Denver and Boulder areas.
Our communities are no different from others in that we have varied and robust needs—and we can do even more because of our volunteer’s incredible contributions. Volunteers pack holiday food boxes, sort produce in our Weinberg Food Pantry, visit older adults to provide companionship, deliver meals, support newly arrived refugees, become a buddy with an individual with intellectual and developmental disabilities, provide spiritual care to unaffiliated Jews, and so much more.
Last year, 872 JFS volunteers donated their time, which equaled 21,672 hours of service to help in all areas of the organization—and we could not be more thankful for their efforts!
If you would like to use your strengths to make a difference inside of JFS and throughout your community, step up and find ways to make life better for those who rely on JFS, and help us adapt to meet the needs of those facing hardships and challenges, we are positive we have an opportunity for you.
