In today’s world, technology skills have become absolutely necessary to be successful in work and in life. JFS’s Vocational Training program offers participants practical learning opportunities and hands-on experience as they learn basic computer and internet skills, email systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and how to use Google Drive, Docs, Slides, and Sheets in our Foundations of Digital Literacy course. This training gives students the opportunity to earn the internationally recognized Northstar Digital Literacy Certification. 

We’re excited to share that the success of our Foundations of Digital Literacy class attracted a  partnership with Centro de Los Trajabadores. Our new partner has been collaborating with WorkReady and DEDO to serve refugees from Venezuela, Colombia, Peru, and Ecuador through the Denver Asylum Seeker Program. The goal of this collaboration is assisting refugees in joining the workforce in fields that struggle to find personnel such as hospitality, construction, and childcare. For the first time, JFS is providing the digital literacy class in Spanish. Our first two cohorts graduated in the beginning of October, and the next two cohorts will graduate before Thanksgiving. There will be four more cohorts that will take place in 2025.  We are proud say that Denver is leading the way to this new approach of welcoming refugees from Latin America while creating a strong local economy.  

Centro de los Trajabadores is Denver’s only day laborer center promoting work, dignity, and community. Its mission is to strengthen the working class’ talents and skills through training and capacity building and boost sustainable economic processes.
