New American Services for Older Adults

For elderly refugees and immigrants, New Americans Support Services provides assistance and programs that ensure effective resettlement and help seniors to achieve the maximum level of self-sufficiency possible. In addition to helping them obtain rent, food, and counseling through other programs offered at JFS, we provide the following services:

• Case management • Citizenship training
• Socialization • ESL instruction

For Russian-speaking seniors, JFS’s New American Elderly Club provides an avenue for socialization and community building. This club hosts many events for its members, including the commemoration of culturally important holidays for the Russian population. In a typical year, the club will have eight parties and four trips to local cultural exhibits.

New American Elderly Club has over 320 members and is currently the only socialization program for Russian-speaking older adult refugees in the Denver community.
