Many people with developmental disabilities have difficulty accessing their community. Mobility challenges, lack of travel skills, and other resources often limit people from full participation in their community. SHALOM Denver can help pave the way for people to live fuller more participatory lives by providing the following services:

Resource/Activity Development:

• We help people make informed choices about what
activities they want to pursue.

• SHALOM staff explores available activities in the
community based on those choices.

Travel Training:

• We help people use RTD to get to and from activities.

Nursing Home Outreach:

• SHALOM staff provides individualized community
access services to people with developmental
disabilities who reside in nursing homes.

• We provide outreach services to those nursing home
residents who need additional support to participate
in their community. SHALOM Denver’s wheelchair lift
vans provide the accessibility needed by residents
with physical challenges.

• Supporting people in making new friends.	• Supporting people in pursuing opportunities to worship.
• Identifying volunteer opportunities.	• Pursuing educational activities.
