We are so lucky to have Whole Foods Tamarac as neighbors and supporters of the Weinberg Food Pantry. The store donates over 275,000 pounds of food to us each year!
Yesterday, 15 employees from their grocery department volunteered for two hours through the store's community service program. They sorted more than 4,000 pounds of food and toiletries, bundled diapers, and cleaned up afterward.
One of the employees said that he interacts with JFS on a daily basis when we come pick up their donations from their store, but he had never been to our building to see how the donations are distributed to clients. "Chad (Pantry coordinator) is always pleasant, easy to work with, and the two businesses have a great relationship."
Other volunteers said "I didn't know JFS was so big or offered so many services." And "I like that you let people pick out their own food items in the Pantry instead of just handing them a box. It's really a great service you provide!"
